Edith Zimmering joined the Brown University coaching staff for
the 2007-08 season. Zimmering, a 2005 graduate of Elmira College,
works primarily with the team's goaltenders. Zimmering is one of
the top goaltenders in Division III women's hockey history, having
played four years at Elmira. She ranks third all-time with a .933
save percentage, and ranks in the top 15 in career saves, goals
against average, and winning percentage. She is a two-time
All-American, having been named First Team in 2005 and Second Team
in 2003. Zimmering led Elmira to National Championships in 2002 and
2003, and was the winning goaltender in both championship contests.
She also backstopped the Soaring Eagles to four consecutive ECAC
West Championships, and was named the ECAC West Goaltender of the
Year in 2005, when Elmira advanced to the Division III National
Championship game before falling to Middlebury. Zimmering graduated
Elmira with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration
with a specialization in marketing. She worked for two years as a
French and mathematics teacher at Portsmouth Abbey School in
Portsmouth, R.I., where she also coached varsity ice hockey,
lacrosse, and golf, as well as JV soccer. She also has been an
instructor at Dartmouth's Elite Hockey Camp for six years.
Zimmering lives with her husband in Middletown, R.I.
