Women’s Hockey Falls to Princeton, 4-0

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Brown women's hockey team fell to Princeton, 4-0, in its return to ECAC play on Friday night at Hobey Baker Rink. The Tigers scored a goal in each of the first two periods and pulled away in the third with two tallies.

Each team had a handful of scoring chances in the opening period, with Princeton (7-10-4, 6-8-1 ECAC) capitalizing at 11:53 (Annie MacDonald) for a 1-0 lead. Shots ended tied 12-12 for the stanza while both teams were shut out for the power play, Brown (2-16-0, 1-10-0 ECAC) 0-for-1 and Princeton 0-for-2.

It looked like neither team would score in the second period but Carly Bullock put in a goal with 14.3 seconds left on the clock on a 4-on-4 situation to increase the Tigers' lead to 2-0. Princeton would outshoot Brown 19-7 in the stanza.  

Princeton extended its lead to three when Bullock registered her second of the game at 8:14 of the third. MacKenzie Ebel recorded the Tigers' final score with 13 seconds remaining in the third. Princeton held the shot advantage for the second-straight period at 16-6 for the third.

On the night, Brown was 0-for-3 on the power play but were a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Sophomore Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) concluded the game with 43 saves, her seventh contest with 30 or more saves on the season, including her fourth straight. Stephanie Neatby ended with 25 saves in the other net.

Senior Samantha Swanstrom (Ham Lake, Minn.) led the Bears in shots overall with eight, which included five in the first period.

The Bears will next face Quinnipiac tomorrow, Jan. 13, in Hamden, Conn. for a 3:00 p.m. game on ESPN3.
