Head coach Digit Murphy recently announced the addition of Jill McInnis to the 2009-2010 women's hockey coaching staff. McInnis, a 2006 graduate of Boston College, comes to Brown from Saint Anselm College, where she was an assistant coach last season. Over the summer, McInnis also took a team of North American collegiate players to Prague, where they won the gold medal at the Czech Challenge Cup.
Last year at Saint Anselm, McInnis helped lead the Hawks to an impressive 16-9-2 record, including a 5-0 win against St. Michael's in the first round of the ECAC playoffs. Prior to coaching at Saint Anselm, McInnis worked with the Boston Lady Rangers, where she was the Director of Girls Hockey. While there, she increased participation in the program by over 200%.
Before going into coaching, McInnis enjoyed a distinguished career as a player, including two seasons of professional play in Europe. At Boston College, she was the first female ice hockey player to receive a full scholarship, and led the Eagles to the first Beanpot Championship in school history. After graduation, she played professionally with the ZSC Lions of Zurich, Switzerland, helping the team to bronze medals in back-to-back seasons.
