Providence, Rhode Island - Michael Harbour, a PGA golf professional and former golf coach at Johnson and Wales University, has been named the Director of Golf and head women's golf coach at Brown. In addition, Edward Hanley has been named Brown's head men's golf coach.
Recognized as one of the top teaching professionals in New England, Harbour is the Director of Golf at Mike Harbour's Golf and Learning Center in Exeter, Rhode Island, where he developed a learning center that covers all golf aspects. He was the head golf professional at Potowomut Golf Club (RI) from 1989-1999. While at Potowomut, Harbour was named the Golf Professional of the Year and Teaching Professional of the Year by the Rhode Island Chapter of the PGA. He also served as the head golf professional at the Lone Tree Country Club in Littleton, Colorado from 1992-1993.
Harbour was the head golf coach at Johnson and Wales University from 1998-2002, earning GNACC Golf Coach of the Year honors in 2001. He majored in Business Management at Rhode Island Community College from 1975-1977, and earned PGA Business School I & II certificates from 1982-1985. He earned a Business School III advanced professional training in 1995.
Hanley is also a PGA member and has been the head golf professional at the Cranston Country Club since 1998. He has also worked as an assistant golf professional at the Pelican Marsh Golf Club in Naples, Florida from 1996-1998, and as an assistant golf professional at the Gateway Golf and Country Club in Ft. Myers, Florida from 1994-1995.
A 1993 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a BA in Speech Communication, Hanley has been the assistant golf coach at the Community College of Rhode Island from 2000-2002. While at RICC, Hanley coordinated the Rhode Island Intercollegiate Tournament.
