Providence, RI - On paper, it looks like a rebuilding year for coach Mike Harbor's women's golf team. But golf tournaments are won with players, and the Bears have the nucleus to lay the groundwork for future success.
"We have a solid group of young players this season, who all gained valuable experience in the fall," said Harbor. "We're an up-and-coming team, who will be in the mix for the top of the Ivy standings this year. The knowledge and skill our players are acquiring this year bodes well for the future success of the program."
At the top of the lineup is freshman Blythe Crane (Chelsea, MI), who placed 8th at the Bucknell Fall Classic, 10th at the Yale Invitational and 20th at the Princeton Invitational. She also had a solid outing in her first competition at the Dartmouth Invitational.
Freshman Tiffany Wade (Alameda, CA) was Brown's top scorer at the Princeton Invitational, placing 14th overall. She also scored at the Yale Invitational and Bucknell Fall Classic.
Sophomore Elizabeth Fisher (Washington, DC) and junior Eleanor Thomas (Auburn, AL) are two of the top veterans on this year's team. Last year, Fisher was Brown's top scorer at the William & Mary Invitational, and scored for the Bears at the Ivy League Championship. Fisher was also 27th overall at the Bucknell Invitational in the fall. Thomas was Brown's second leading scorer at the Ivy League Championship and was ninth at the Boston College Invitational.
Junior Emily Washington (Pasadena, CA) has also been a solid player for the Bears, scoring at all four tournaments in the fall, including a 27th place finish at Bucknell. Junior Monica Skeldon is also expected to contribute to this year's team.
