Sept. 14, 2008

Hanover, NH - While coach Danielle Griffith's women's golf team didn't win the Dartmouth Invitational, her young squad made tremendous strides from a year ago by finishing third at the 17-team Dartmouth Invitational, played at the par-72 Hanover Country Club. Harvard captured the team title with a two-day 616, followed by host Dartmouth (625), Brown (629), Siena (633), Amherst (641), Albany (644), Sacred Heart (645), Fairfield (654), Williams (662), Middlebury (668), Mt. Holyoke (671), Hartford (672), Holy Cross (681), Boston U. (684), Central Connecticut (688), Wellesley (705) and St. Mary's -IN (711).

All five of Brown's top five scorers were freshmen or sophomores, and were led by freshman Heather Arison, who excelled in her collegiate debut by finishing sixth overall with a two-day 154 after firing a final round 78. Close behind was sophomore Julia Robinson with a two-day 156, good for 11th place, after coming in at 79 on Sunday.

The Arison sisters weren't done yet, with Carly Arison shooting a two-day 161 with a final round of 82 to place 20th overall. Freshman Megan Tuohy came in at 84 on Sunday to finish with a two-day 163. Sophomore Sarah Guarascio had a solid final round, shooting 79 to compile a two-round 166. Junior Kendalle Bennett was also in the mix for the Bears, shooting 86-81--167.

The Bears will be back in action again next week, September 21-22, at the Princeton Invitational.
