Danielle Griffiths, a former assistant women's golf coach at the
University of Virginia, has been named the Assistant Director of
Golf and Head Women's Golf coach at Brown University. "When we
started the search process, we were looking for someone with
experience and a proven track record to coach either our men's or
women's golf team," said Michael Goldberger, Brown's Director of
Athletics. "Danielle's recruiting and administrative experience at
the highest level of Division I makes her a perfect choice to lead
our women's program." "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be
a part of the Brown family, said Griffiths, the former Danielle
Roudebush. "With the tradition of Brown, the successful athletic
department and dedicated student-athletes, I believe the women's
golf program will succeed in the Ivy League." Mike Harbour, Brown's
Director of Golf, had coached the women's golf team for the last
four years, and will move over to become the head men's golf coach,
replacing Ed Hanley, who stepped down at the completion of the fall
season. A 1997 graduate of the University of North Carolina at
Wilmington, Danielle earned a bachelor's degree in business
management. As a student-athlete, Danielle was a four-time letter
winner, captain of the team and also received the Coach's Award in
1997. In the fall of 2003, Danielle was the first ever Assistant
Women's Golf Coach for the University of Virginia. During her
tenure with the squad, Danielle helped Jan Mann launch the Virginia
program which made its first-ever appearance in the 2005 national
championship following the team's second season. "The team and I
cannot say enough good things about Danielle," said Mann when
Danielle left the Virginia program. "She was a true asset to the
women's golf program at Virginia and a key contributor to the
success of our team for the last two years. We are all very happy
for her as she makes her move to New England to be with her
husband, but she will be truly missed by everyone on the team."
Griffiths has coached at the Sam Carmichael's Junior Golf Camp at
Indiana University, Peggy Kirk Bell's Junior Golf Camp, and Diane
Dailey's Golf Camp at Wake Forest. In 2004, Griffiths coordinated
the first Jan Mann Junior Girls Golf Camp at Virginia. Danielle
will also be at the Kittansett Club in Marion, MA this summer
working towards becoming a LPGA Teaching Professional. A native of
Indiana, Danielle resides in Natick, MA with her husband Jamie
Griffiths.
