Women's Golf Prepares For Spring Season

Providence, R.I. -  Hard at practice since its fall season concluded in October, the Brown women's golf team will tee-off its spring schedule with competitions at the Moss Creek GC in Hilton Head, SC, the Four Streams GC in Maryland and the Brown Invitational, all en route to the Ivy League Championship.

"The team is excited about the spring season and are working hard in the weight room and during our winter hitting sessions, said head coach Danielle Griffiths.  The Brown Invitational will be a Ivy preview with almost all Ivies in attendance.  I am very excited for this year's home tournament and I know my team will give it their all to be prepared for the competition."

Sophomore Stephanie Hsieh was named First Team All-Ivy after placing in the top five a year ago, and the Bears will look for her leadership on the course again this spring.

The Bears will also rely on senior Erica Farrer, sophomore Cassandra Carothers, and freshmen Maggie Min,  Lauren Flynn and Juliette Garay.

The season begins in earnest over spring break with the Low Country Invitational tournament in Hilton Head beginning on March 23rd.  Getting some good practice over break and tournament play in Hilton Head, SC will get the "rust off" for the Bears and prepare the team for the Georgetown Hoya Invitational, hosted at the Four Streams Golf Course in Gaithersburg, Md., from Apr. 8-9.

A week later, Apr. 14-15, Brown hosts at the Brown Invitational, held at the Rhode Island Country Club. Last year, the Bears finished second behind St. John's. The Field for this year's Brown Invitational includes, Brown, Boston University, Columbia,  Dartmouth,  Harvard,  Lehigh,  LIU, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Seton Hall, St. John's, Siena, Yale, and Quinnipiac.

The Beas are looking forward to competing in the Ivy League Championship, which takes place Apr. 26-28 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
