Hanover, New Hampshire - Brown’s women’s golf team is in the hunt for the Dartmouth Invitational team title after the first day of competition with a team score of 315 Saturday afternoon at the par-72 Hanover Country Club, just four shots off the lead.
Towson leads the 20 team tournament at 311, with Fairfield second at 314, followed by Brown (315), Boston College (317), Albany (319), Siena (323), Dartmouth (323), Williams (327), Hartford (328), Holy Cross (331), Central Conn. (332), Hofstra (333), Amherst (335), Boston U. (336), Sacred Heart (340), Vassar (342), Wellesley (342), St. Lawrence (344), Mt. Holyoke (349) and Middlebury (371).
Junior Julia Robinson and junior Susan Guarascio both sparked the Bears, coming in at 76, the second lowest score of the opening round. Robinson’s 76 was conventional with nines of 38-38, while Guarascio struggled o n the front with 43, but rebounded on the back with an outstanding 33.
Sophomore Megan Tuohy, sophomore Heather Arison and junior captain Susan Restrepo were all solid for the Bears, with Tuohy shooting 81, Arison carding 82, and Restrepo coming in at 83.
Play at the Dartmouth Invitational will
conclude with 18 holes on Sunday.
