Gardner and Garcia Earn Regional All-American Honors

Brown University field hockey standouts Susana Garcia (Highland Lakes, NJ) and Cara Gardner (Hensall, ONT) have both been named First Team Northeast Regional All-Americans by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Both were honored as First Team All-Ivy selections last week.

Garcia completed her senior season with eight goals and ten assists, making her the second leading scorer on the team and eighth in the Ivy League. From her midfield position she was a key defender as well as a pivotal offensive player for the Bears. Garcia has been a huge part of Brown's success for the past four years, starting in every single game since her rookie season. She was a First Team All-Ivy selection last year and was named a Second Team Northeast Regional All-American, as well as being Academic All-Ivy and an Academic All-American.

Gardner has been a major force in Brown's offense for the past two years. She played her first season last year as a junior, making an immediate impact on the forward line with her natural ability to score. She was honored as the Ivy League Rookie of the Year for her 12 goals and four assists, as well as being named Second Team All-Ivy. This season she led the Bears in scoring with 15 goals and eight assists, placing her second in the Ivy League for points. She also ended her senior season ranked 6th in the nation for points per game and 7th in the nation for goals per game.
