PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown freshman field hockey forward Sara Eaton (Arlington, VA) has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, after helping to lead the Bears to a 2-1 victory over Columbia. It marks the first time in her career that she has earned this honor.
Eaton continued her impressive play against the Lions in the Bears' only game last week. With Brown trailing early in the second half, Eaton assisted the Bears' first goal less than four minutes after the Lions had taken a 1-0 lead. Just over four minutes later, Eaton scored her third goal of the season, the game-winner, to lift the Bears above the .500 mark for the first time since Brown opened the season with a win over Vermont.
Eaton is currently second on the team in scoring with 3-1-7 totals, leading all freshmen in scoring. The Bears will look to continue their two-game winning streak this week, starting Wednesday, October 12, when they travel to Boston to face #16 Boston College. On Saturday, October 15, the Bears return home to host Princeton in a critical Ivy contest. The Tigers are the only remaining undefeated team in the league and a win against the Tigers would put Brown into a three-way tie for first place in the Ancient Eight.
