Lloyd Named Ivy League Player of the Week
Oct. 10, 2006
PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown senior tri-captain Samantha Lloyd (Shavertown, PA) was named Ivy League Player of the week after leading the Bears to a pair of shutout wins. Included in the 2-0 week was a 1-0 overtime win over Columbia as Brown remains undefeated at 3-0 in the Ivy League.
On Wednesday against Fairfield, Lloyd scored the Bears' second goal of the contest in the 20th minute to provide some insurance in a 2-0 victory. On Saturday, against Columbia, Lloyd tallied an assist on the game-winning goal, which came at 8:27 of the first overtime. Perhaps more important than her assist on the game-winning goal was her dominance in the midfield, controlling the ball and constantly pushing it towards the circle, while helping the team to draw 14 penalty corners. She also fired off a game-high seven shots, including four on goal in Brown's win. Lloyd is currently tied for third on the team with nine points (3g.3a).
The Bears travel to Princeton this Saturday to face the Tigers in a 12:00 noon Ivy showdown for first place in the League.
