PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown junior field hockey goalie Evelyn Brosi (Baltimore, MD) has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week after leading the Bears to a 2-0 week with wins over Rhode Island, 6-2, and #20 Harvard, 1-0. It marks the first time in her career that she has earned this honor.
Brosi made her first career start in net on Wednesday and earned a win over intra-state rival URI, Brown's first since opening the season with a victory over Vermont on September 4th. She stopped seven shots, including six in the second half, allowing two goals in the 6-2 victory for her first career win. On Saturday, Brosi won her second straight game, and first career shutout, stopping four shots as Brown posted a 1-0 victory over #20 Harvard for the Bears first Ivy win of the season. It was just the ninth win over the Crimson all-time and the first win for Brown since 1992 when the Bears posted a 3-0 victory in Boston.
In two games this season, Brosi has a 0.92 GAA and a .846 save percentage. Prior to her first two career starts, Brosi had played in just five games (one this year) in relief. The Bears will look to continue their two-game winning streak this week at home when they host #12 Northeastern on Wednesday at 4:00, and Colgate on Sunday, at 12:00 noon.
