The Brown field hockey team battled #17 Boston University to a 3-1 victory Sunday, September 14th on Warner Roof lifting their 2003 record to (3-1). Leading the Bears were senior captain Lizzie Buza (Houston, TX) and senior Molly Carleton (Shaker Heights, OH).
Carleton scored first for the Bears off of her own rebound 7:60 into the first half. Sophomores Kristen Vincent (Glens Falls, NY) and Laura Kavazarjian (Setauket, NY) were instrumental in transitioning the ball up field. Brown's second goal came off a beautiful pass from sophomore Tess Belmont (Poughkeepsie, NY) which slid behind Boston University's defense and goalie to Kavazarjian who placed the ball in an open goal. Senior Brooke Townsend (Houston, TX) fought hard keeping the ball in Brown's attacking end.
Boston University scored their first goal of the game twenty-eight minutes into the second half, however Brown quickly retaliated sealing the win with a goal from senior captain Laurel Peirpont (Jacksonville, FL) who slammed in a pass from Buza with only forty-nine seconds remaining on the clock. Junior goalie Kathryn Noe (Simsbury, CT) made six saves in the game.
Brown continues action on Wednesday, September 17th, versus the University of Rhode Island on Warner Roof at 4pm.
