March 8, 2006
Twelve members of the field hockey team were named to the 2005 National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad. Each student-athlete has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better during their time at Brown. Brown was also recognized with the National Academic Team Award, which recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2005-2006 academic year. Brown missed the top five by just .02 of a point. Out of the eight Ivy League schools, Brown had the most student-athletes selected with Yale and Harvard each placing nine student-athletes on the squad.
Brown's honored athletes include seniors Lindsay Boris (Shavertown, PA), Libbie Fritz (Gladstone, NJ), Laura Kavazanjian (Setauket, NY), and Kristen Vincent (Glens Falls, NY), juniors Evelyn Brosi (Baltimore, MD) and Hope Stockman (Princeton, NJ), sophomores Katie Auriemma (Medford, NJ), Kristen Hodavance (Emmaus, PA), Andrea Posa (Weston, MA), and Sara Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ), and freshmen Natalie Harrington (Locust Valley, NY), and Kim Perley (Tewksbury, MA).
Boris and Kavazanjian have earned recognition on the National Academic Squad in each of their four years, while Fritz and Vincent are three-time honorees, earning recognition in 2003, 2004, and 2005. Stockman, Auriemma, Hodavance, and Posa are all two-time honorees.
Brown finished the season with an 8-8 record, including a 5-2 mark in the Ivy League, finishing in second place in the Ancient Eight.
