Yale Scores Three Straight Goals en Route to 3-1 Defeat of Bears
Nov. 4, 2006
PROVIDENCE, RI - Senior Tracy Dungo (North Caldwell, NJ) scored her second goal of the season at 23:19 to give Brown (9-7, 3-4) a 1-0 lead, but it wasn't enough, as Yale (5-12, 4-3) notched three straight goals en route to a 3-1 victory over the Bears on Saturday afternoon at Warner roof.
The Bears dominated the first half of the game, outshooting Yale, 7-4. After a few Bulldog chances midway through the period, Brown maintained possession and worked the ball down the field, earning a free hit with under 15 minutes left in the half. Sophomore Sara Eaton (Arlington, VA) sent the ball in bounds and Dungo one-timed it into the left corner of the net at 23:19 for the early lead.
However, Alyssa Jethani responded for the Bulldogs just 4:50 later, tipping the ball in past junior Kristen Hodavance (Emmaus, PA) after it got deflected by a Brown defender.
The two teams headed into the second half knotted at 1-1, but Yale used momentum from its tying goal and Rachel Lentz scored back-to-back goals 10 minutes apart from each other to put the game out of reach. The Bulldogs outshot Brown, 6-2, for the half.
Hodavance recorded four saves, while sophomore Ann LeClerc (Acton, MA) notched a defensive save for Brown late in the second half.
This afternoon's contest marked the final career game for the class of 2007, including, Stacy Gugliotta (East Falmouth, MA), Rebecca Mondics (Bethesda, MD), and tri-captains Evelyn Brosi (Baltimore, MD), Samantha Lloyd (Shavertown, PA), and Dungo.
