Field Hockey Wins Double-Overtime Thriller at Yale, 3

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Bears (8-8, 3-3) scored three unanswered goals to come back from a 2-0 deficit and defeat Yale 3-2 in double overtime on Saturday afternoon.
With 18:31 to go in the first half, the Bulldogs got on the board and tallied again just 1:53 into the second period to take a 2-0 lead with 33:07 remaining.
Not to be outdone, Brown started its comeback when sophomore leading scorer Lizzie Buza (Houston, TX) found classmate Laurel Pierpont (Jacksonville, FL), who got the Bears on the board with 24:07 remaining in the game.
Sophomore Meaghan Harwood (Hoosick Falls, NY) scored the tying goal with just 5:26 left to play, while Pierpont earned an assist.
After a scoreless overtime period, the Bears finished what they came to do just 1:53 into the second overtime. Junior Cory Pelletier (Walpole, MA) scored the game winner with 13:07 remaining off a pass from Buza.
Freshman Kathryn Noe (Simsbury, CT) made 11 saves in the victory as Brown was outshot 33-17. The Bears will play their final game of 2001 on Monday afternoon when they host Dartmouth in 3:00 p.m. contest.
