WORCESTER, MA - The Brown field hockey team (5-10) dropped a 2-1 decision ato Holy Cross (11-7) in a non-conference match-up Tuesday evening at the Hart Astro Turf.
Despite outshooting the Crusaders 14-4 in the game and 10-1 in the second half, Brown couldn't solve Holy Cross' goalie until the end of the game. Holy Cross took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute of play and added its second goal just 10 minutes into the second half.
The Bears came back with a little over 10 minutes remaining in the game when sophomore Samantha Lloyd (Shavertown, PA) took the Crusaders' goalie one-on-one and scored her second goal of the year. However, the Holy Cross defense was able to hold off a furious Brown attack late in the game to preserve the win.
Freshman Kristen Hodavance (Emmaus, PA) recorded two saves in 46 minutes of action, before senior Katie Noe (Simsbury, CT) came in in relief to finish out the game.
The Bears host Yale at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 6, in their final game of the season. The game also marks the final career game for senior tri-captains Noe, Julia Kelderman (Chevy Chase, MD) and Evan O'Connell (Greenwich, CT).
