Field Hockey Drops a 1-0 Decision to Penn
Oct. 27, 2001
PROVIDENCE, RI - The Pennsylvania Quakers (6-9, 4-1) tallied the lone goal of the game to defeat Brown (7-7, 2-3) in an Ivy League field hockey contest on Saturday afternoon on Brown's Warner Roof.
After a scoreless first half, the Quakers scored the winning goal with 24:35 remaining in the contest. Penn dribbled down the field into a one-on-one, taking a shot which sophomore Margaret Pulvermann (Bethesda, MD) saved for her second defensive save of the season. However Penn was awarded a penalty stroke on the next play, which junior Brandi Alexander converted for the lone score of the game.
The Bears outshot Penn 22-8, but Carrie Wilhelm played strong in net and made 11 saves for the Quakers.
Brown had several chances in the very end of the game with back-to-back corners and time expired, but could not tie the game due to the stifling Penn defense.
Freshman Kathryn Noe (Simsbury, CT) made one save in net for the Bears, who continue action on Tuesday, October 30 when they travel to Fairfield for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
