Bears Score Late in the Second to Defeat Columbia Field Hockey, 1-0

New York, NY - Columbia (1-11, 0-3) pieced together a solid defensive effort but fell short against Brown (6-4, 2-1), as senior Laurel Pierpont (Jacksonville, FL) scored in the 60th minute to give the Bears a 1-0 victory in Ivy League action on Saturday afternoon.

Brown held a 12-5 penalty corner advantage and with just 11 minutes left to play in the game the Bears' missed a corner opportunity on an outstanding save by Columbia's goalie, but Pierpont gathered the ball for a quick shot that bolted just past the outstretched Light Blue goalie.

Junior Kathryn Noe (Simsbury, CT) posted three saves for the Bears. Brown continues action on Wednesday, October 15, at Fairfield at 4:00 p.m.
