Field Hockey Falls to #16 Boston College 5-1

The Brown Field Hockey team fell to Boston College 5-1 moving their record to 5-4 on the season. Bruno came out strong scoring first, however BC retaliated with a goal and Brown could not recover.

Scoring for the Bears was senior Molly Carleton (Shaker Heights, OH) who slammed the ball past BC's starting goalie only 2:24 into the first half. Brown continued to press the ball up the field, however BC retaliated with a matching goal at 30:55. The score remained tied throughout the remainder of the first half. Brown was led in defensive efforts by sophomore Kristen Vincent (Glens Falls, NY) and senior Meaghan Harwood (Hoosick Falls, NY). Sophomore Brooke Townsend (Houston, TX) and senior captain Lizzie Buza (Houston, TX) stepped up the tempo in the midfield transitioning the ball into Brown's attacking end.

The second half saw most of the action in Brown's defensive end. BC took the lead with a goal scored at 13:50. Brown tried to rally back, however BC's attack put in two more goals at 10:59 and 9:08. Senior captain Laurel Pierpont (Jacksonville, FL) tried to push Brown's attack, however BC answered to Bruno's increased pressure with a final goal at 7:19.

Junior starting goalie Kathryn Noe (Simsbury, CT) made 12 saves in 64:31 minutes of play. Freshman Evelyn Brosi (Baltimore, MD) saw action for the remaining 5:29, making one save.

Field Hockey continues Ivy action next Saturday Oct. 11th at Columbia University, at 12:00pm.
