Sacred Heart Scores Three Second-Half Goals en Route to 3-0 Victory Over Bears
Sept. 14, 2005
PROVIDENCE, RI - Sacred Heart (1-7) scored three second-half goals en route to a 3-0 victory over the Brown field hockey team (1-2) on Wednesday afternoon, as the Pioneers posted their first win of the 2005 season.
The two teams played a scoreless first half, and less than three minutes into the second half, at 37:30, Jenna McLane scored her first of two goals to give Sacred Heart a 1-0 lead.
That goal would be all the Pioneers would need in the victory. However, just 2:37 later, at 40:07, Nicole Falco assisted a Becky Ford goal to give Sacred Heart a 2-0 lead. McLane scored her second goal with 18:30 remaining to put the game away.
Sophomore Kristen Hodavance (Emmaus, PA) made five saves in net for Brown, including a diving stick-save with 5:43 left in the first half on a one-on-one. Junior Evelyn Brosi (Baltimore, MD) came in to relieve Hodavance and played the final 12:54, but did not see any shots.
The Bears will look to rebound from their two-game skid this Sunday, September 18, when they host Lehigh at 12:00 noon.
