Fall Academic All-Ivy Honorees Announced

The Ivy League released its fall list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with ten Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Springmeyer and Hyland Named All-Ivy
Junior Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA) and sophomore Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) of the Brown field hockey team have earned 2009 All-Ivy honors in a vote by the League's eight head coaches. Both were named Second Team All-Ivy and both have started every game of their careers with Hyland playing in 51 in three seasons and Springmeyer playing in 34 in two seasons.

Bears Drop Season Finale to Yale, 6-2
Yale scored just 12:31 into the game and never looked back, as the Bulldogs (12-5, 6-1) earned a 6-2 win over the Brown field hockey team (5-12, 0-7) on Saturday afternoon in New Haven. Sophomores Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) and Abigail Taft (Shaker Heights, OH) both scored for Brown.

Penn Takes 4-0 Win Despite Washburn's 14 Saves
Sophomore goalie Caroline Washburn (Pittsburgh, PA) turned in an impressive performance on Saturday afternoon, turning back 14 shots, but Penn stifled Brown's attack in a 4-0 win on the Bear's senior day. After taking a scoreless tie into the half, Bruno was outshot 14-2 in the final 35 minutes as the Quakers came away with the win. Going into the final game of the season, Brown is now 5-11 overall and 0-6 in league play, while Penn improves to 5-10 on the season and 2-3 against Ivy opponents.
