Reeve to Coach at U17 National Squad Camp

Brown head field hockey coach Jill Reeve will be joining the coaching staff for the United States U17 National Squad Camp to be held in Chula Vista, CA from January 26-29. Boston College head coach Ainslee Lamb will serve as head coach of the group and will be assisted by Reeve and Jarred Martin, an assistant coach at Duke. The trio will run several days of practice leading up to a final day of scrimmaging at the Olympic Training Center.

2011 Fall Academic All-Ivy Announced
The Ivy League released its fall list of Academic All-ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Three Bears Earn All-Ivy Honors
Senior Laura Iacovetti (Blue Bell, PA) was named Second Team All-Ivy to lead three Brown players in earning 2011 All-Ivy honors in a vote by the League’s eight head coaches. Joining Iacovetti in this year’s All-Ivy selections senior Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) and freshman Shannon McSweeney (Boxborough, MA), who both earned Honorable Mention honors.

Yale Overpowers Bears, 7-0, in Season Finale
The Brown field hockey team (4-13, 0-7) dropped a 7-0 decision to Yale (11-6, 6-1) on Saturday afternoon in New Haven. The Bear were outshot, 51-6, for the game, including a 27-3 margin in shots on goal. Freshman Shannon McSweeney (Boxborough, MA) was spectacular in net, stopping a career-high 20 shots, five saves shy of Brown’s record for saves in a game.
