Reeve Announces Five Member Class of 2017

PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown field hockey coach Jill Reeve has announced the five players who will be joining the Bears as part of the Class of 2017 this fall. Reeve's second recruiting class as the Bears' head coach, the group includes one forward, three midfielders, and one back. They represent four different states in addition to British Columbia, Canada.

"I'm extremely excited about the talent and experience level of the incoming class," said Reeve. "Each of these young women bring something special and dynamic to the table. I am looking forward to having them join the rest of our squad as we continue to raise the bar."

Katarina Angus
West Vancouver, British Columbia
High School: Collingwood School
Club Team: WVFHC
Position: Back

  • Three-year starter for Collingwood School in West Vancouver, British Columbia
  • Helped lead Collingwood to B.C. Provincial Championship as a senior captain
  • Collingwood also won silver at the Provincial Championship in 2011 and gold in 2010
  • Three-time North Shore Secondary School First Team All-Star
  • Played on Team B.C. at Canadian National Championship as a U16 and U18
  • Attended Canadian Women's Junior National Team Development Camp
  • Member of Canadian National Women's Target 2017 Team
  • Received Honors in Service, Academics, Athletics and Arts all four years of high school
  • Older brother, Eddie, is a current junior at Brown

Brooke Bonfiglio
Bronxville, New York
High School: Bronxville
Club Team: Spirit Eagles
Position: Midfield

  • Three-year starter at Bronxville High School, where she also played lacrosse for four years and tennis for two
  • Captain for both the field hockey and lacrosse teams at Bronxville
  • Two-time All-Section, All-League and All-Elite honoree in field hockey, earning All-State honors as a junior
  • Two-time All-League selection in lacrosse and named All-Section as a junior
  • Also an All-State, All-Section and All-League honoree in tennis
  • President of the Athletic Council at Bronxville as a senior; Was also President of her 11th grade class and Vice President of her 10th grade class

Lucy Green
Providence, Rhode Island
High School: Moses Brown School
Club Team: Lead the Way
Position: Midfield

  • Four-year starter at Moses Brown School, where she also played lacrosse for four years
  • Captain of both the field hockey and lacrosse teams at Moses Brown
  • Named First Team All-Division for field hockey as both a senior and junior, earning Honorable Mention honors as a sophomore and All-Rookie Team recognition as a freshman
  • Two-time All-State selection and 2011 Third Team All-American in field hockey
  • Helped to lead 2012 Moses Brown team to Division I Championship with an undefeated record
  • Two-Time All-League selection in lacrosse, helping to lead team to 2012 Division I Championship
  • US Lacrosse Academic All-American in 2012
  • Member of National French Honor Society; Year Book Editor and Model UN Leader
  • Older sister, Liza, is a current sophomore at Brown and member of the field hockey team

Jaclyn Torres
Andover, Massachusetts
High School: Andover
Club Team: Seacoast United
Position: Forward/Midfield

  • Four-year member of the field hockey team at Andover High School, where she also played lacrosse for four years, basketball for one, and ran track for one year
  • Helped to lead Andover to back-to-back Division I Championships (2010 & 2011), captaining the field hockey team in 2012 with a three-year record of 60-3-5 (2010-2012)
  • Three-time Boston Globe All-Scholastic, Three-time Boston Herald All-Scholastic, Three-time Eagle Tribune All-Star and Eagle Tribune MVP in 2012
  • Also a three-time All-Conference selection
  • Member of 4x400 relay team that holds the Andover school record and finished 17th in the country in 2011
  • Named All-Conference in lacrosse as a junior and was recipient of team's Golden Warrior Award for Character on and off the field
  • Member of National Honor Society, Red Cross Club, and on Senior Board of Directors
  • Older brother, Joshua, plays lacrosse at Providence College

Leah Zavalick
Glastonbury, Connecticut
High School: Loomis Chaffee
Club Team: Cape Ann Coalition
Position: Forward

  • Played field hockey at Glastonbury High School for four years, before playing a post-grad year at Loomis Chaffee
  • Earned All-American and Founders League All-Star honors in 2012 after scoring 14 goals and 24 assists at Loomis Chaffee
  • Captained the field hockey team at Glastonbury in 2011, earning All-American honors
  • Was a two-time All-State, two-time First Team All-Courant, and three-time All-Conference selection while at Glastonbury
  • Set all-time school record for goals (78) with a season-best 35 as a junior
  • Member of National Honor Society and NFHCA National Academic Squad honoree
  • Cousin, Lindsey Glennon '07, played both ice hockey at lacrosse at Brown
