Wendy Anderson, Former Brown Field Hockey and Lacrosse Coach, Passes Away
The Brown University community is saddened by the passing of former Brown field hockey and lacrosse coach Wendy Anderson, who passed away this morning on Cape Cod after a 10-year battle with cancer.

2013 All-Ivy Field Hockey Selections Announced
Junior Meghan O’Donnell (Winchester, Mass.) earned Second Team All-Ivy honors while tri-captains Avery Burns (Millersville, Md.) and Shannon McSweeney (Boxborough, Mass.) garnered Honorable Mention All-Ivy accolades in an announcement made by the league on Wednesday.

The Brown field hockey team concluded its 2013 regular season slate, falling to Ivy League rival Yale, 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Johnson Field.

Field Hockey Falls at Fairfield, 6-1
Shealyn Testa and Felicitas Heinen each scored twice as host Fairfield defeated the Brown field hockey team by a 6-1 score at University Field on Sunday. The Bears drop to 6-10 this season while the Stags improve to 11-6 with the victory.

Field Hockey Entertains Penn on Saturday (12 PM) for Senior Day
The Brown field hockey team (6-8, 1-4 Ivy) will honor its five seniors on Saturday before hosting second-place Penn (12-3, 4-1 Ivy) on Goldberger Family Field at 12 p.m. Maggie Brady (Tulsa, Okla.), Avery Burns (Millersville, Md.), Kelsey Grossman (Shavertown, Pa.), Charlotte Small (Summit, N.J.), and Torie Stearns (Rye, N.Y.) will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony.

Late Rally Falls Short as Field Hockey Falls at Cornell, 2-1
Meghan O’Donnell (Winchester, Mass.) scored in the final minute of play, but Brown’s rally fell short in a 2-1 loss to Cornell at Marsha Dodson Field on Saturday. Brown drops to 6-8 (1-4 Ivy) while the Big Red improves to 9-5 (3-2 Ivy) on the season.

Field Hockey Outlasts Holy Cross, 3-1
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Alexis Miller (Caldwell, N.J.) scored twice and Katarina Angus (West Vancouver, B.C.) added a tally en route to a 3-1 victory for the Brown field hockey team over Holy Cross (4-11) on Wednesday at Goldberger Family Field. The Bears extended their winning streak to six games versus Holy Cross dating back to 2008.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Despite a formidable first-half defensive effort and two goals by junior Meghan O’Donnell (Winchester, Mass.), the Brown field hockey team suffered a 6-2 loss to defending national champion No. 9 Princeton in Ivy League play at Goldberger Family Field on Saturday. The Bears fall to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in Ivy League action, while the Tigers jump to 8-4 and remain undefeated in conference play at 4-0.

Angus Sinks Game-Winner, Field Hockey Upsets #14 Louisville in OT, 2-1
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Katarina Angus (West Vancouver, British Columbia) deposited the game-winning goal four and a half minutes into overtime to lift the Brown field hockey team to a dramatic 2-1 win over #14 Louisville at Goldberger Family Field on Sunday. The upset marks Brown’s first win over a nationally-ranked opponent since the Bears took down #20 Harvard, 1-0, on Sep. 24, 2005. Brown improves to 5-6 overall, while the Cardinals drop to 10-4 overall after losing back-to-back games for the first time this season.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Bears square off against a nationally-ranked opponent for the first time in just short of a year when the Brown field hockey team (4-6, 1-2 Ivy) takes on No. 14 Louisville (10-2, 3-0 Big East) in a non-conference showdown on Sunday at Goldberger Family Field at 12 p.m. Brown last faced a top-25 opponent on Oct. 13 of last year when the Bears fell at No. 3 Princeton in Ivy League action.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Hannah Rogers (Los Altos, Calif.) flushed a breakaway goal off a feed from junior Meghan O’Donnell (Winchester, Mass.) to lift the Brown field hockey team to a thrilling 2-1 overtime win at Harvard in Ivy League action at Jordan Field on Saturday. The Bears secured their first overtime win since Oct. 20, 2012, and improve to 4-5 overall with their first league win of the season. The Crimson drop to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in Ivy League play.

Field Hockey Hosts Dartmouth in Ivy League Home Opener on Saturday
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Saturday’s home contest against Dartmouth gives the Brown field hockey team the chance to do two things it has not done since 2006: win its Ivy League home opener and beat the Big Green. The Bears, now 3-3 overall and 0-1 in Ancient Eight play, last defeated Dartmouth on Sep. 9, 2006, in a 2-0 decision in Hanover, N.H., and less than two weeks later took down Harvard, 1-0, in their Ivy home opener on Warner Roof. Brown and the Big Green face off for the 38th time in series history on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Goldberger Family Field.

The Bears snap a two-game losing streak and improve to 3-3 overall, while the Raiders fall to 1-7 on the season.

The Bears now stand at 1-1 on the season while the Broncs suffer their first loss of year and fall to 3-1.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown field hockey team suffered a 4-3 non-conference loss to Bryant University in its home opener when Bulldogs junior Rosie Bird smacked the go-ahead goal into the back of the cage with 32 seconds to play. Bird’s two second-half goals secured her a hat trick and propelled the visitors to victory and erase the Bears’ one-goal lead. Brown falls to 0-1 on the season while Bryant improves to 2-1 overall.

Three Bears Participate in Global Players Study Abroad Program for Student-Athletes
Rising juniors Janie Gion (Northfield, IL) and Meghan O’Brien (Bethesda, MD), members of the Brown women’s lacrosse team, and Lucy Green (Providence, RI), an incoming freshman on the Bears’ field hockey team, are currently participating in the Global Players Study Abroad Program for Student-Athletes. Gion and O’Brien are presently interning and studying, respectively, in Prague and training with a local Czech lacrosse club. Green is currently studying in Amsterdam and training at a Dutch hockey club.

Reeve Announces Five Member Class of 2017
Brown field hockey coach Jill Reeve has announced the five players who will be joining the Bears as part of the Class of 2017 this fall. Reeve's second recruiting class as the Bears' head coach, the group includes one forward, three midfielders, and one back. They represent four different states in addition to British Columbia, Canada.

Reeve to Coach Women's High Performance Team
Brown head field hockey coach Jill Reeve has been named a coach for a High Performance team for USA Field Hockey this summer. Reeve will serve on the coaching staff for the North High Performance Center, which will have practices throughout the month of May and then compete at the Women's National Championship, May 23-27, at Old Dominion.
