PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown field hockey freshman Meghan O'Donnell (Winchester, MA) has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 30th. The Bears' leading scorer with 17 points, O'Donnell helped to lead Brown to a 1-1 week, scoring three goals and assisting a fourth.
On Tuesday against Holy Cross, a 7-1 Brown win, O'Donnell led all scorers with 5 points (2g, 1a), including the game-winning goal. She scored her first of the game, which would prove to be the game-winner, just 14:31 into play. She then had a hand in Brown's fifth and sixth goals, scored just 2:02 apart early in the second half. She posted an assist on a goal by sophomore Torie Stearns (Rye, NY) at the 44:45 mark and then scored her second of the afternoon at 46:47. On Saturday against Penn, O'Donnell tied the score at 1-1 at 18:54 of the first and just 3:14 after Penn had taken a 1-0 lead.
Brown returns to action this Saturday when it faces Yale in a 1:00 p.m. contest in New Haven, the Bears' final game of the 2011 season.
