16 Bears Named to 2009 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad
Sixteen members of the field hockey team were named to the 2009 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2009-10 academic year. In addition, Brown was one of 63 Division I teams to earn the 2009 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award. This award recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2009-10 academic year.

Fall Academic All-Ivy Honorees Announced
The Ivy League released its fall list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with ten Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Springmeyer and Hyland Named All-Ivy
Junior Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA) and sophomore Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) of the Brown field hockey team have earned 2009 All-Ivy honors in a vote by the League's eight head coaches. Both were named Second Team All-Ivy and both have started every game of their careers with Hyland playing in 51 in three seasons and Springmeyer playing in 34 in two seasons.

Bears Drop Season Finale to Yale, 6-2
Yale scored just 12:31 into the game and never looked back, as the Bulldogs (12-5, 6-1) earned a 6-2 win over the Brown field hockey team (5-12, 0-7) on Saturday afternoon in New Haven. Sophomores Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) and Abigail Taft (Shaker Heights, OH) both scored for Brown.

Penn Takes 4-0 Win Despite Washburn's 14 Saves
Sophomore goalie Caroline Washburn (Pittsburgh, PA) turned in an impressive performance on Saturday afternoon, turning back 14 shots, but Penn stifled Brown's attack in a 4-0 win on the Bear's senior day. After taking a scoreless tie into the half, Bruno was outshot 14-2 in the final 35 minutes as the Quakers came away with the win. Going into the final game of the season, Brown is now 5-11 overall and 0-6 in league play, while Penn improves to 5-10 on the season and 2-3 against Ivy opponents.

Sophomore Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) led four different goal scorers with four points, as the Brown field hockey team (5-10) earned a 4-2 victory over Holy Cross (4-13) on a raw and damp Tuesday afternoon at Warner Roof.

Cornell utilized a 5-2 second half, as the Big Red (9-3, 3-2) earned a 7-3 victory over the Brown field hockey team (4-10, 0-5) on Saturday afternoon in Ithaca. Sophomore Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) led the Bears with two goals and an assist, while sophomore Caroline Washburn (Pittsburgh, PA) made 12 saves in net.

Senior Michaela Seigo (Annandale, VA) and junior Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA) each tallied a goal and an assist, but it wasn't enough, as Providence College (6-9) earned a 3-2 victory over the Bears (4-9) on Tuesday evening at PC.

Princeton scored five first-half goals and the Bears could never recover, as th fourth-ranked Tigers (11-3, 4-0) earned a 5-1 victory over the Brown field hockey team (4-8, 0-4) on Saturday afternoon on Warner Roof. Freshman Kelley Harrison (Houston, TX) scored her first career goal for the Bears, while sophomore Caroline Washburn (Pittsburgh, PA) recorded 13 saves.

The Brown field hockey team (4-7) dropped an 8-2 decision to the University of Maine (10-4) in a non-league match on Sunday afternoon in Orono. Sophomors Kit Masini (Ann Arbor, MI) and Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) each scored to lead the Bears.

Sophomore Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) tallied a pair of goals in regulation and the Bears went on to outscore Vermont (1-11), 4-1, in penalty strokes, as the Brown field hockey team (4-6) earned a 3-2 victory over Vermont on Sunday afternoon at Warner Roof. Brown outscored Vermont, 4-1, in penalty strokes, as sophomore Bridget McNamara (Bethesda, MD), junior Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA), junior Cassie Puhalla (Forty Fort, PA), and junior Tacy Zysk (Walpole, MA) all scored and sophomore Caroline Washburn (Pittsburgh, PA) stopped two Vermont attempts with a third going wide.

Bears Come Back from Two-Goal Deficit to Force Overtime, but Fall in the Extra Session to Harvard, 4-3
Sophomore Abigail Taft's (Shaker Heights, OH) first goal of the season with 10:32 left in the game capped a two-goal Brown rally, tying the game at 3-3, as the Bears came back from a 3-1 deficit to force overtime. However, Harvard (4-4, 1-2) would score the game-winner just 1:28 into the extra session to earn a 4-3 victory over the Bears (3-6, 0-3) on Saturday afternoon at a rain-soaked Jordan Field.

Providence, R.I. - Despite a pair of goals from junior Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA), Brown fell 8-3 to Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon, as the Big Green converted four corner opportunities for the win. With the loss, Brown falls to 3-4 on the season, and 0-2 in Ivy League play, while Dartmouth improves to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in league action.

Bears Come Back From 2-0 Deficit to Defeat Bryant, 3-2
Trailing, 2-0, after the first 12 minutes of play, and 2-1 at halftime, the Brown field hockey team (2-2) scored twice in the final 10 minutes of play to earn a 3-2 victory over Bryant (1-4) on Sunday afternoon at Warner Roof. Todays win, combined with yesterdays triumph over Monmouth, marks the first time since October of 2006 that the Bears have earned back-to-back wins.

Sophomore Kit Masini (Ann Arbor, MI) and junior Tacy Zysk (Walpole, MA) stretched their point-scoring streaks to three games, with five and three points, respectively, in leading the Bears to their first win of the season, 4-2 over Monmouth (3-2). Brown (1-2) fought back from a one-goal deficit on two occasions to earn the win, as junior Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA) also scored in the victory.
