Three Oarswomen Named All-Americans

The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced its All-America teams for the 2006 season on Wednesday. The awards, presented by Pocock, recognize the outstanding accomplishments of female rowers and coxswains for the spring season. Forty-two student-athletes were honored and included on the list were Brown seniors Deborah Dryer and Gillian Almy, both First Team selections, in addition to junior Rachel Dearborn, a Second Team honoree. The three were all apart of Brown's varsity eight, which placed third at the NCAA Championships and second at Eastern Sprints this season.

Dryer has been the stoke of the varsity eight boat for the last three seasons. A First Team All-Region selection, she was also named to the National Scholar Athlete list this season. Last season, she earned Second Team All-Region honors as well as being named to the National Scholar Athlete list. In 2004, she helped Brown to its fourth national title as the varsity eight captured first place overall. A two-time Academic All-Ivy selection, Dryer was recently named a Second Team District I Academic All-American.

Almy has also been a member of the varsity eight for the last three seasons. She received Second Team All-Region and National Scholar Athlete honors last season while this season, she earned First Team All-Region honors in addition to being named a National Scholar Athlete.

Dearborn, a Second Team All-Region selection, has competed in the varsity eight boat since her freshman year. For the second straight season she earned National Scholar Athlete status.
