Providence, RI - The Brown Women's Crew, along with 11 other teams, have been selected to compete at the NCAA Division I Women's Rowing Championships held May 25-27 at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Brown, who recently competed at the EAWRC Sprints last weekend, finished second overall after the Bears' varsity eight placed second to Yale. Bringing home titles for Brown was the novice eight and the second varsity eight, while Bruno's third varsity four "A" placed third.
Last year, Brown came up three-tenths of a second short in the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Rowing Championships, as the Cal Bears spoiled Bruno's chance of a fifth national championship.
The team championships are comprised of 12 teams, while each team is required to field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers. In addition, four eight-women boats from institutions not represented in the team competition were selected.
Also competing in Oak Ridge will be California, Harvard, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Princeton, Southern California, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington and Yale. At-Large eights are Dartmouth, Stanford, UCF and UCLA.
