Camden, NJ - After a stellar performance by the Brown women's crew this morning, all five of Bruno's boats have advanced to the Grand Final at the EAWRC Sprints on Sunday afternoon.
Brown's Novice Eight kicked off the race and set a winning pace for Bruno's crews for the rest of the day. The novice took first place in their heat with a 7:23.4 and was followed behind by Syracuse (7:30.4) and Navy (7:42.5).
Brown's Varsity Eight placed first in their heat with a time of 6:55.5, followed by Radcliffe's 7:00.3 and Columbia's 7:14.5 for a third place finish. In the Second Varsity Eight race, Brown came in first with a 7:11.4 as UPenn placed second with a 7:20.1 and Northeastern came in third with a 7:26.7.
The Varsity Four "A" race we once again led by Bruno, as they crossed the finish line at 8:13.66. Syracuse came in second with an 8:19.3 and Dartmouth in third with an 8:22.8.
In the Varsity Four "B" race, Radcliffe was able to place first with an 8:24.1, followed by Princeton in second with an 8:27.5 and Brown in third with an 8:33.2. Although the top two crews in each heat and the top two times advance to the Grand Finals, the Brown's third-place time of 8:33.2 defeated the first-place time in another heat, advancing Bruno to the Grand Final.
The Third Varsity Four "B" will kick off the Grand Final at 2:20 p.m. They will be joined by Princeton, Navy, Radcliffe, Yale and Boston University. The Novice Eight will compete at 2:55 p.m., and will challenge Radcliffe, UPenn, Yale, Dartmouth and Syracuse.
At 3:40 p.m., the Brown's Third Varsity Four "A" will compete against Syracuse, Princeton, Radcliffe, Yale and Northeastern. In the Second Varsity Eight race, Brown will be joined by Dartmouth, Radcliffe, Yale, Princeton and UPenn at 4:15 p.m. Last but not least, the Bears' Varsity Eight will close out the day at 4:50 p.m. as they race against Radcliffe, UPenn, Yale, Dartmouth and Northeastern.
