Columbus, OH - Brown competed very well in Columbus over the weekend, squaring off against Minnesota, Notre Dame and Ohio State, and winning seven of the eight races the Bears competed in. In the varsity eight, the Bears knocked off Notre Dame twice, as well as Minnesota, and were edged by only Ohio State.
In the morning action, Brown faced Ohio State and Notre Dame, and competed well against the tough opposition. The Buckeyes took first in the varsity eight with a time of 6:22, with the Bears close behind at 6:28. However, Brown then went on to victories in the second varsity eight, varsity four, and second varsity four, illustrating the depth that has become a hallmark of Brown crew. The varsity four was particularly impressive, as the Bears pulled away to win by ten seconds over Ohio State and 13 over Notre Dame.
In the afternoon, Minnesota and Notre Dame took their shots at Brown, with limited success for both. The Bears took the varsity eight race by a solid three-second margin, finishing at 6:22.0, which also edged Ohio State's time from the morning. Bruno then once again captured the second varsity eight, varsity four, and second varsity four events, winning each by at least four seconds.
The Bears will be back in action next weekend, when they open the home season by hosting Boston University.
