Providence, RI - The Brown women's crew picked up another victory this afternoon by defeating Rutgers in all four races on the Seekonk River at the Narragansett Boat Club.
While the Seekonk River certainly did not make things easy today as it was constantly challenging rowers and coxswains alike, the varsity eight came out with a lot of energy posting a 7:17.72 to Rutgers' 7:45.28. "Conditions during the warm-up were rough," said varsity stroke and senior captain, Emma Olson (New Haven, CT). "However, once the race began, we felt a lot of energy yet we were still able to stay relaxed. We raced well today, as did Rutgers."
Brown's novice eight picked up the first win of the afternoon, coming in with a time of 7:44.58. Rutgers' novice turned in a solid performance, earning an 8:21.05. Bruno's second varsity eight also gave an outstanding effort, defeating Rutgers 7:43.93 - 8:23.58.
Brown's "A", "B" and "C" locked up first, second and third place finishes, respectively, in the varsity four race, as the Rutgers crew came in fourth. Brown "A" earned first with an 8:22.77, while "B" came in right behind with an 8:27.34. The "C" boat came in at 9:08.25, as Rutgers posted a 9:19.21.
