Bears Sweep Four Races Against Rutgers Despite Rough Conditions
April 7, 2006
Providence, RI -
The weather may have been far from perfect on Friday afternoon for the Brown women's crew as it hosted Rutgers on the Seekonk River, but in the end, the Bears came out perfect, sweeping four races from the Scarlet Knights. Rain and wind hampered both crews in all races as some were shortened, including the novice eight, and no fours took to the water for safety reasons.
The ninth ranked varsity eight posted a winning time of 7:40.50 to Rutgers 8:06.65. The victory improves the Bears to 2-2 on the season. The junior varsity eight remains undefeated on the year, earning its fourth win handily, 7:24.78 to 8:00.66. Both crews raced a third varsity eight rather than fours with the Bears again taking an easy victory, 8:08.31 to 8:36.15.
Brown's novice eight moved to 3-1 on the year with a 5:39.70 to 6:11.13 win against the Scarlet Knights, closing out a perfect day for Brown.
