Women's Crew Takes Three out of Five Races at Princeton

Princeton, NJ - The No.3 Brown women's crew opened up its 2008 spring rowing season winning three of its five races at No. 6 Princeton University with Michigan State on Saturday morning.

While Brown's varsity eight placed behind Princeton (7:13.4) and Michigan State (7:13.7) with a 7:21.1, Bruno's novice eight and novice four both beat their competition and earned first place finishes. Despite the strong winds, Bruno's 8:02.0 earned by the novice eight took first over Princeton (8:10.8) and the Spartans of Michigan State (9:05.9). Brown's second freshman four showed its strength when defeating Princeton 8:52.1 - 9:19.4.

Brown's second varsity eight earned Bruno's third first-place finish of the day, crossing the finish line at 7:46.5. The Spartans came in second with a 7:52.1, followed by the Tigers in third with a 7:55.4.

Michigan State took the varsity four title with an 8:29.8, as Brown picked up second with an 8:44.9 and Princeton's 9:08.4 was good for third.

Next, Brown will host Radcliffe on Saturday, April 5.
