No. 9 Women’s Crew Posts 12-0 Record on Day One at Lake Natoma Invite

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – No. 9 Brown University women's crew won all six of its races and posted a 12-0 record on Saturday in its first day of competition at the 2017 Lake Natoma Invitational at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center.

The Bears won a pair of races in each of the first varsity eight, second varsity eight, and A varsity four, competing against Central Florida and Sacramento State in the morning session and Gonzaga and Boston University in the afternoon session.

In the morning against UCF and Sacramento St., the Bears earned margins of 10 seconds or better in all three of their races while taking wins of 4.80 seconds or better in all three of their races vs. Gonzaga and BU in the afternoon. Both Gonzaga and UCF received votes in the latest CRCA Coaches' Poll.

Next, Brown concludes racing at the Lake Natoma Invitational tomorrow, Sunday, Apr. 9, against No. 2 California and No. 6 Stanford with competition for Brown beginning at 11:10 a.m. ET.

Brown took wins in the A varsity four, second varsity eight, and first varsity eight against Central Florida and Sacramento State in its morning session on the first day of the Lake Natoma Invitational on Saturday morning.

The Bears won in the first varsity eight behind a time of 6:23.80 eclipsing UCF (6:33.91) by 10.11 seconds and Sacramento St. (6:44.40) by 20.60 seconds.

In the second varsity eight, Brown earned a victory in a time of 6:31.04, topping the Golden Knights (6:50.99) by 19.95 seconds and the host Hornets (6:56.78) by 25.74 seconds.

In their first race of the day in the A varsity four, the Bears clocked in with a time of 7:09.49 to defeat UCF (7:28.57) by 19.08 seconds and Sacramento St. (7:43.11) by 33.62 seconds.

As a team, Brown posted a 6-0 record in its morning racing. In all three events, Brown raced out of lane one, UCF out of lane two, and Sacramento St. out of lane three.

Brown followed its Saturday morning results with another 6-0 session, beating Gonzaga and Boston University in the A varsity four, second varsity eight, and first varsity eight in its Saturday evening session at the Lake Natoma Invitational

In its final race of the day, Brown captured a win in the first varsity eight behind a time of 6:20.82, clipping Gonzaga (6:25.62) by 4.80 seconds and Boston University (6:42.83) by 22.01 seconds.

The Bears claimed a victory in the second varsity eight with a time of 6:27.39, outdistancing the Bulldogs (6:35.37) by 7.98 seconds and the Terriers (6:51.63) by 24.24 seconds.

Opening the afternoon with the A varsity four, Brown registered a time of 7:08.67 to defeat Gonzaga (7:18.80) by 10.13 seconds and BU (7:42.93) by 34.26 seconds.

In all three events, Brown raced out of lane one, Gonzaga out of lane two, and BU out of lane three.
