No. 5 Women’s Crew Sweeps No. 13 Radcliffe for Varsity Eight Trophy

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Against a strong incoming tide, the No. 5 Brown women's crew team swept all five races against No. 13 Radcliffe to win the Varsity Eight Trophy on the Seekonk River on Saturday.

The Bears' varsity eight prevailed by a full five seconds, turning in a time of 6:21.80 to Radcliffe's 6:26.80. Brown's second varsity eight won handily with a 20-second advantage, while the varsity four sped to the finish in 7:35.30. The second varsity four crossed the finish in 7:42.10 - a seven-second victory – and the third varsity eight finished first by a 16.7 second margin.

Brown will now prepare to head out west for the two-day Lake Natoma Classic in Sacramento, Calif., on April 12-13.
