Women's Crew Race Against Boston University Cancelled; Boat Christening Will Go On As Planned

PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND - The women's crew race between Brown and Boston University, scheduled for Saturday, April 20th at 3:55pm on the Seekonk River in Providence, has been cancelled. The regatta will not be rescheduled, but the two teams will meet at the Eastern Sprints on May 5th, and the winner of the Arlene Gorton Cup will be determined by the outcome of that race.

While the race will not be conducted, the Boat Christening and cookout scheduled for tomorrow afternoon will still be held at approximately 5:30pm at Brown's Marston Boathouse.  Current team members, coaches, parents and alumni will gather to recognize the achievements of Nina Ewald '88, Kathryn Quadracci Flores '90, Maria Rabb '88, Cathy Spath '89 and Vicki Banyard '88. The five women combined to win the program's first gold medal at the Eastern Sprints in 1987.
