Shelton, Conn. – After reaching the NCAA Championship for a 16th-straight season the Brown women's crew started it's chase for yet another appearance at the national tournament at the Head of the Housatonic. It was the 18th annual race on the Housatonic River and was hosted by the New Haven Rowing club.
Brown entered four boats into the collegiate eight event which had a large Ivy League contingent. Yale placed two boats in the top three, while Radcliffe finished second. Brown's top boat took fourth with a time a 15:37.54.
The Bears also placed sixth with a time of 15:56.80, 11th (16:31.34) and 14th (17:04.92).
The Head of the Housatonic is one of the largest, single-day, head races in the country, attracting rowers of all levels. The regatta venue was held at Indian Well State Park, situated on a 4.5 mile stretch of the river. The course is 2.7 miles starting just below the park and ending at the New Haven Rowing Club boathouse across the river in Oxford, Conn.
