Brown Women’s Crew Wins its Group at Lake Natoma Invitational

Gold River, Calif. – The Brown women's crew returned to Sacramento State Aquatics Center, the site of the Bears 2011 Division I National Championship, taking part in the Lake Natoma Invitational. Competing mainly against Washington State and Texas, Bruno had several impressive races.

The Bears' varsity eight boat easily won its heat, crossing the finish line nearly seven seconds ahead of second-place Washington State. Brown's time was the second fastest of any crew at the Invitational, finishing in 6:36.7.

Brown won its heat in the second varsity eight, topping both the Longhorns and Cougars with a time of 6:50.2, the third-fastest time of any boat in the 2V8 races.

In the varsity four heat, the Bears were edged by WSU as Bruno finished the race in 7:28.8.

Brown won its grouping by four points, finishing with a total of 17. The Bears totaled the second-most points of any team as California finished first with 18.

Bruno returns to the east coast and Ivy League action, traveling to Ithaca, N.Y., to take on Cornell and Columbia.
