Brown University Finishes in Top-30 of Inaugural Women’s Capital One Cup
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Capital One and the NCAA have announced that Stanford University women's athletics program is the winner of the inaugural Capital One Cup. Brown University finished the season in 27th with a total of 20 points in the Capital One Cup women's standings. This was a result of Brown's National Championship Title in women's crew this spring season.
Launched in 2010, the Capital One Cup honors NCAA Division I athletics programs for their cumulative on-field performance across multiple men's and women's sports. The Capital One Cup trophy will be presented with a $200,000 donation to fund student-athlete graduate-level scholarships.
After an exciting and unpredictable year in college sports, the Capital One Cup final official women's standings have been tabulated. Despite impressive wins from Arizona State in softball, Northwestern in lacrosse, Brown in rowing, Florida in tennis and Texas A&M in outdoor track and field, Stanford held their lead by staying in the top 10 in four of the five women's spring championships.
Brown is the Ivy League's highest finisher, placing two spots ahead of Princeton, which tallied 18 points.
