Brown Names Casimir Grygorcewicz Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Casimir Grygorcewicz has been named an assistant women's basketball coach at Brown University. He joins Head Coach Jean Marie Burr's staff after spending the past eight years as the head women's basketball coach at Mitchell College in New London, CT.

Grygorcewicz compiled a record of 197-32 while at Mitchell and his 2002-03 team went 30-3 overall and finished the season ranked second in the nation. He was named the NJCAA District Coach of the Year in 1998, 2000, 2001, and 2003. Grygorcewicz also served as the interim Director of Athletics at Mitchell in 2001-02.

Prior to his arrival at Mitchell College, Grygorcewicz was the head girls' varsity basketball coach at Montville High School in Montville, CT from 1990-95. He was also the head boys' varsity basketball coach at St. Thomas Prep in Oakdale, CT from 1986-88.

In addition to his coaching duties, Grygorcewicz is also the Academic Career/Advisor for the C.A.R.E.S. (Career Advise Retain Educate Support) program. C.A.R.E.S. monitors academic progress of students, assists and participates in the S.T.A.R.S. enrichment program for student athletes and prepares curriculum and teaches freshman seminar classes.

Grygorcewicz is a member of the WBCA, Kodak Coach of the Year Committee and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
