Brown Women's Basketball to hold Midnight Madness

PROVIDENCE, RI -- Reviving a tradition as much a part of college basketball as the national tournament in March, the Brown women's basketball team will open practice sessions this Friday night by hosting Midnight Madness.

In addition to free pizza for the first 100 fans, the Bears plan on showcasing some of their talent for the upcoming season, running some common drills and playing an intra-squad scrimmage. The Bears will also demonstrate ball-handling and hold a three-point shooting contest.

There will be events planned for the fans, including a halftime shootout and a player challenge. T-shirts will be awarded to those fans who participate against the stars of the 2000-01 Brown squad. The festivities will begin at midnight on Friday night, as Midnight Madness marks the official beginning of the 2000-01 season.

The Bears, coached by Jean Marie Burr, open their season on November 17 at New Hampshire.
