Providence, RI - Women's basketball coach Jean Marie Burr, who enters her 20th year with the Bears, has released her team's 2007-2008 schedule, with Brown opening its season at 7:30 p.m. at home on Nov. 9 against Providence College.
With eight letterwinners returning, including senior point-guard Annesley O'Neal (Franklin, GA), and sophomores Shae Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA) and Courtney Lee (Archer, FL) leading the backcourt, the Bears' will be ready to face Providence College as they open up their season on Nov. 9.
After facing PC, Brown travels to Quinnipiac on Nov. 11 and will then be at the University of Vermont Tournament from Nov. 17-18 where they will take on Vermont and either St. John's or NC State. The following weekend (Nov. 23-24) the Bears compete at the URI Tournament, joined by both American and West Virginia University.
An away game against Army will be played before Brown comes back home to host the Brown Basketball Classic on Dec. 1-2 with St. Joe's, Manhattan and Howard each participating. Brown will host Boston University on Dec. 5, and will be back in action on Dec. 29-30 at the Lehigh Tournament. The Bears will be playing Lehigh on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and then either URI or Stony Brook the following day.
The Bears head to Washington DC for a match-up against Georgetown on Jan. 4, and will then tangle with George Washington (who made its third NCAA Sweet 16 appearance) on Jan. 6. Just two weeks later, the Bears' kick off the Ivy League season with two games against Yale. The first is in New Haven on Jan. 19, and then back at home on the 26th before hitting the road.
The first two weekends of February have Brown away, as they take on Cornell (Feb. 1) and Columbia (Feb. 2). The following weekend, they face Dartmouth on Feb. 8, Harvard on Feb. 9 and then come back home for two exciting weekends at the Pizzitola.
Brown will host UPenn (Feb. 15) and Princeton (Feb. 16) for 7 p.m. tip-offs. Next, they will challenge Cornell (Feb. 22) and Columbia (Feb. 23) at 7 p.m. The Bears will have their last road game against Princeton (Feb.29) and Penn (March 1) and will close out the 2007-2008 regular season against Harvard (March 7) and Dartmouth (March 8) at 7 p.m.
