Pamela Bass Named Head Women's Basketball Coach At Longwood University

Brown women's basketball assistant coach Pamela Bass has stepped down to accept the position of Head Women's Basketball Coach at Longwood University. A 1991 graduate of Brown, Bass served as Head Coach Jean Marie Burr's assistant for the last five years. She brings 13 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience to the Longwood program, which is in its final year of its four-year Division I Reclassification

Bass helped guide Brown to the 2006 Ivy League Championship as it went 18-10 overall, including a 12-2 mark in Ivy play. It was Brown's first Ivy championship since 1993-94, while the Bears have posted a 50-16 Ivy League record over the last four years. A solidifying force for the team, Bass was actively involved in its development both on and off the court. Known for her recruiting and committment to the student-athlete experience, Bass will carry on to Longwood her strong passion for the game.

Before returning to College Hill in 2001, Bass served as an assistant coach at Yale University. Prior to that she coached and was the Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Hartford and at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Her recruiting talents gained national recognition as she upgraded both institutions' recruiting efforts. From 1993-1996 Bass served as an assistant coach at Providence College, and was selected as an assistant coach on the Big East All-Star Team in 1995.
