Providence, RI - Brown senior captain Sarah Hayes (Beaufort, SC) has been named a Second Team District I CoSIDA Academic All-American. This marks the second straight year Hayes has received this honor. Hayes is currently third in the Ivy League in scoring with 14.8 ppg and first in steals per game with 2.9. A double concentrator in Psychology and History, she has maintained a grade point average of 3.43.
Heading into this weekend's trip tp Cornell and Columbia, Hayes is nearing a milestone only one other player in Ivy League women's basketball history has acheived. She is just two steals away from joining Princeton's Claire Tomasiewicz '79 as the only player to compile over 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, 250 assists and 250 steals in a career.
A First Team All-Ivy selection in 2005 and the Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2003, Hayes is currently ninth in all-time scoring at Brown with 1,217 points and fourth in all-time steals with 248.
