Shooting Stars Basketball Camps Dates Announced

The Brown University Basketball Program has announced the dates of their 12th annual Shooting Stars and Offensive Skills Basketball Camps. In addition they will add a new one day "pre-camp" Adult/Child Hoops Day on Sunday, June 20th, 2004.

In honor of Father's Day the "Adult/Child" Hoops Day will be a special time for the participants full of hoopla and basketball fun. It will give a child and the adult of their choice (parent, relative, mentor, etc.) the opportunity to learn and have fun together as they develop the individual and teamwork skills of basketball. This event, directed by Brown assistant coach Pamela Bass, is open to children and adults of all ages. The camp fee includes a t-shirt for all participants. An adult can register additional children for an additional fee.

Shooting Stars Camp Director and Brown Head Coach Jean Marie Burr is excited for the Shooting Stars Camps this summer. "We will give each camper the attention they need to improve their individual skills," expresses Burr. The Shooting Stars Camp and Offensive Improvement Camp will provide a 6:1 ratio of campers to staff to help accomplish the individual time needed to develop skills and have fun playing basketball. In addition to Burr and Assistant Director, Pam Bass, the staff has included in the past professional women's basketball players, professional conditioning coaches, the Big East Defensive Player of the Year, an Olympian, as well as enthusiastic college players, college coaches, and high coaches from across the country.

The traditional Shooting Stars Camp will be open to boys and girls in grades 1-12. This camp is know for skill development and FUN. It traditionally fills up quickly so please register early to secure a space. The Shooting Stars camp runs from June 21-24, 2004 (9:00 am to 4:00 pm) and the cost of camp is $220.

The Offensive Skills Camp will be open to boys and girls in grades 1-12. The camp will offer two programs: "ABC's" of Basketball for the further development of FUNdamental skills and the "Score" Emphasis for the competitive development of a players offensive game. It is ideal for players working hard to get to the next level with their game. The camp fee is $160 dollars and camp runs from July 5-7, 2004 (9am to 2pm).
