On Sunday, the Brown women's basketball team will close out non-conference play at home against South Dakota State. Gametime is set for 12:30 p.m. and fans can listen in live via the internet. It marks the first-ever meeting between Brown and the Jackrabbits. South Dakota State moved up to Division I play last season as an independent and have gone 17-14 against DI opponents since that time.
Brown completed a season sweep over Yale on Friday night with a 67-52 victory. The win improved Brown to 7-7 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy League. The Bears have now won four of their last five games. Senior Sarah Hayes leads the Bears with 15.4 points per game this season while fellow senior Colleen Kelly is adding 12.9. Hayes leads Brown in four other caragories as well, averaging 5.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.4 steals while shooting 47.3% Junior Ashley King-Bischof is third for Brown with 8.7 points per game and second with 5.4 rebounds per game. Junior Lena McAfee is adding 5.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game as well..
The Jackrabbits are 10-7 on the year, including a 74-53 win over Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday night. They have won three of their last four games, the lone loss coming against San Jose State last Saturday.
Heather Sieler led South Dakota State with 18 points on 6-9 shooting in the win over IPFW. Vogel is averaging a team-high 15.2 points per game while also pulling down a team-best 6.6 rebounds per contest. Andrea Verdegan is second in scoring with 9.3 per game while Christina Gilbert rounds out the top three with 8.6 a game.
