Mitchell calmly buried two free throws with just 6.4 seconds left on the clock on Saturday night against Harvard, giving Brown the 59-57 victory over the Crimson and its first 2-0 start in league play since 1996-97.
Her 9-point effort against the Crimson followed up a 9-point effort on Friday night against Dartmouth, in which Brown cruised to a 63-54 victory. Last Monday night, Mitchell scored a career-high 19 points and pulled down six boards in helping the Bears defeat the Sacred Heart Pioneers by 16 points, 60-44.
For the season, Mitchell is now averaging 7.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, and is shooting better than 52% from the field. She also leads the Bears in blocked shots with 21.
Mitchell was a graduate of St. Bernard's Prep in Birmingham, Alabama, where she scored more than 2500 career points, with per game averages of 29 points and 14 boards for her career. She was named a high school Honorable Mention All-American by Street and Smith's.
