The Brown University Women's Basketball team took third in the Wildcat Christmas Classic defeating the University of New Hampshire 72-64 in the Pavilion on the campus of Villanova University.
The Bears went into the locker room down by eight at halftime and trailed by as many as ten in the early part of the second half. Brown took the lead with a little over 12 minutes left in the game and never looked back.
Offensively the Bears were led by junior Tanara Golston (Skokie, IL) who recorded 22 points, six assists and five steals. Freshman Jackie Vocell (Atkinson, NH) had a stand out game accumulating 19 points, 15 from behind the three point arc. Vocell also added six assists.
Also scoring in double digits for Brown was freshman Sarah Hayes (Beaufort, SC) with ten points as well as six boards and four steals. Junior Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) added nine points and six rebounds.
The Bears next action will be this Thursday, January 2, 2003 at Sacred Heart University at 7:30 p.m.
