Women's Basketball Falls To Delaware 60-47 In Opening Round Of Fairfield Tournament

Fairfield, CT - The Brown women's basketball team fell to Delaware, 60-47, in the opening round of the Coca Cola Classic hosted by Fairfield on Saturday, Nov. 29. Despite shooting a dismal 25 percent from the field, Delaware was able to take advantage of several Brown turnovers to earn the victory. Sophomore Sarah Hayes led Brown with 11 points and nine rebounds. The Bears are now 1-2 on the season.

Brown held the lead through much of the first half and went into the locker room down by just one with the score 28-27. The Bears were never able to recover the lead as Delaware pulled away midway through the second half, out-scoring Brown 32-20 in the half.

Also scoring in double figures for Brown was senior Nyema Mitchell with 11 points and three blocks. Freshman Ashley King-Bischof added eight rebounds off the bench for the Bears.

Brown will face UMass in the consolation match of the Cola Classic tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m.
